Ship Shops offers complete winterization services. Engine and boat winterization is done on time plus parts used as all boats are different. Our winterization process is not ala carte as most yards because we believe there is only one way and that is complete service of all components to help with a trouble free spring activation. There are no shortcuts. Storage, engine, and systems winterization and shrinkwrapping.

Outboard motor winterization includes adding fuel stabilizer, oil, and filter change, gear lube change, grease all lubrication points, grease prop shaft, replace all zincs including powerhead zincs on four-stroke outboards, replace all fuel filters and run on fogging oil. Antifreeze any onboard water systems with non tox antifreeze.

Etec's do not require most service for 3 years or 300 hours. However, we annually add fuel stabilizer, change gear lube, grease prop shaft and run a system diagnostics to check for any fault codes.

I/O and inboard gas and diesel boats will have the engine(s) oil and filter changed, check antifreeze protection on FWC if equipped, remove the outdrive, check u-joint bellows, check engine alignment, change gear lube, reinstall the drive, run on fogging oil and fill the raw water cooling side with antifreeze. AC units and all water systems are drained and have non tox antifreeze run through all lines and pumps.

We recommend inboard boats have props sent out to be scanned for correct dimensions. We also check shaft alignment and worn cutlass bearings.

Shrinkwrapping is done by our own crew, framed with wood where necessary and covers the hull sides to the water line. The cover will survive the worst of winters.

Before your boat is left with us for winterizing and storage, we ask that you have the holding tank pumped and remove all cushions that may hold moisture to help prevent mold and empty refrigerators off all contents.
